Notes:

Born 200 years ago, Isambard Kingdom Brunel was a true genius of the Industrial Age, whose vision and daring produced some of the greatest engineering wonders of Victorian Britain.

"Darwin told us where we came from, but it was Brunel who took us where we wanted to go." This quote from Brunel 'champion' Jeremy Clarkson sums up perfectly the man whose steam railways, tunnels, ships, bridges and buildings are still celebrated today for the profound effect they had on Britain and the rest of the world.

To mark the 200th anniversary of Brunel's birth Royal Mail produced a superb set of six postage stamps on 23rd February 2006. To complement this set, I have designed the above customised generic sheet featuring two of Brunel's greatest achievements: the Royal Albert Bridge at Saltash, and the Great Western Railway depicting the Iron Duke broad gauge locomotive as it might of appeared at Chippenham Station during the early 1850s.
